Our research aims to improve our understanding of cloud processes and their environmental impacts. We use numerical modelling as a research tool. The main research areas are the followings:
1. The role of atmospheric aerosol particles in precipitation formation. The size, concentration and chemical composition of these particles determine the size distribution of water droplets and ice particles in clouds, and hence the efficiency of precipitation formation and the optical properties of clouds. The main focus of our research is computer modelling of aerosol particle regeneration.
2. New numerical model to describe the formation and growth of ice grains in thunderstorm clouds. We are developing a new theoretical model that allows a more accurate description of the different growth stages of ice grains.
