MedMiner is a web application that accesses the MedLine database. It processes abstracts of selected publications and provides an intuitive, visual interface. With the help of the web application, students and researchers looking for articles on new topics can drastically reduce the time needed to process literature.
Applications:
Literature review
Linking authors and subject headings
Automatic classification of knowledge
Research objective validation tool
The MedLiner application is written in R in the Shiny environment and is built from several modules. The first module coordinates the connection to the MedLine database via a standard API. It provides access to the database and classical search and filtering conditions. The middle module of the program provides text mining capabilities. This module interacts organically with the third module, which provides visualisation.
Advantages:
Complex data is discussed in a simple, easy-to-understand format.
It gives the user a personal sense of efficiency.
Speed in monotonous and attention-demanding data searches.
Easily check the guesses that emerge during the search.
It can be a validation of ideas or a source of ideas.
It opens up new depths of search for the user while maintaining the experience of "surfing".
